Commercial and Residential Sales Representative 


The primary duty of this position will be to professionally promote the sales of residential and commercial security alarm systems, CCTV, gates entry, and access systems. The prospective candidate will be responsible for the entire sales process of generating and following up on sales leads, meeting with potential clients and conducting a needs assessment, quoting/bidding residential and commercial security systems to meet those needs, negotiating terms, closing sales opportunities, and ensuring profitable growth of the company in an enthusiastic and timely manner.

Job Responsibilities

  • Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from ad inquiries, trade shows, business directories, Internet Web sites, and other sources
  • Makes outbound lead follow-up calls to potential and existing customers by telephone and e-mail to qualify leads and sell products and services
  • Handles inbound sales lead calls to convert calls into sales
  • Overcomes technical and business objections of prospective customers
  • Provides product demos to qualified customers on request
  • Emphasizes salable features, quotes prices and credit terms, and prepares sales orders for orders obtained
  • Estimates date of delivery to customer based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules
  • Coordinates customer training
  • Builds and maintains customer relationships
  • Prepares reports of business transactions
  • Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database
  • Investigates and resolves customer problems with deliveries
  • Meets and exceeds mandatory sales monthly / annual quotas
  • Closing company generated residential and small business leads
  • Self-generating new residential and small business account
  • Conduct in-home and on-site sales presentations and proposals with prospects, with the intention of closing and scheduling installations
  • Consult with residential and small business clients to educate, design, and implement the installation and service of security product lines and interactive services
  • Identify and schedule appointments via prospecting, self-obtained referrals, company referrals, and ongoing customer contact


Education and Experience:

  • Experienced in the industry and/or have a strong sales background possessing high-level skills to succeed in an extremely competitive market
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record

Skills and Abilities:

  • Good communication skills and professional appearance
  • Team player
  • Local travel weekdays within a 50-mile radius
  • Listening to customer requirements and presenting appropriately to make a sale
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with existing customers in person and via telephone calls and emails
  • Cold calling to arrange meetings with potential customers to prospect for new business
  • Responding to incoming email and phone inquiries
  • Negotiating the terms of an agreement and closing sales
  • Challenging any objections with a view to getting the customer to buy
  • Advising on forthcoming product developments and discussing special promotions
  • Creating detailed proposal documents, often as part of a formal bidding process which is largely dictated by the prospective customer
  • Recording sales and order information and sending copies to the sales office, or entering figures into a computer system
  • Reviewing your own sales performance, aiming to meet or exceed targets
  • Gaining a clear understanding of customers' businesses and requirements
  • Making accurate, rapid cost calculations and providing customers with quotations
